REGISTRY EASY
Qiwang Computer LTD
Review by Pennie Jefferson
Utility Software
Registry Easy will do a complete registry scan for all errors. Over time, adding and removing programs, as well as daily usage, leaves bits and pieces of extraneous information, as well as gaps in needed information. Areas that might have operating errors are user and software settings, application paths, class keys, fonts, shortcuts, start menu items, startup programs, file associations, shared known DLL’s and Active X.
Advanced computer users will find it easy to dive right in and select the areas that need tweaking. Intermediate users will still do quite well, as long as they proceed with some caution. There is a simple tutorial available through the help tab, as well as online support.
The software loaded quite easily and quickly. The Scan Tab opens with choices available for the above-noted areas as well as some others. My first system scan yielded about 1500 errors, most of which I did not understand.. Rather than repairing all of these, I selected a few applications that I did have knowledge of. The repair process was also quite speedy. Again, I stress that the user needs to choose carefully, as I restored some functions such as Symantec and Earthlink Total Access that I have previously spent hours deleting.
One of my favorite features was the Advanced Tab. Here there are options for:
Startup Manager, Uninstall Manager; Disk Cleaner, System Optimizer, Memory Tweaking, Error Utilities, as well as others. In conjunction with the online Process Library.com (which describes computer processes, advises their memory usage, and advises if they are important for your computer or just additional memory drags), it is fairly easy, albeit time-consuming to clean out unnecessary Startup items. The Uninstall Manager is also more precise than the Microsoft Add/Remove Programs function. I was able to rid my computer of some bits and pieces left over from uninstalled software.
The Tweak Memory function seemed to speed up my computer a bit, with no unintended consequences. The History Cleaner and Disk Cleaner functioned as intended, but are also available in Internet Options & System Tools with Microsoft operating systems. Overall, I believe that, as my computer knowledge improves, I will use more of the options offered with this software. It is, however, too complicated for the beginner.
