I was eager to review the program
A Disk Deleter.@ I repair and build PC= s, and am constantly reformatting hard drives to prepare them for windows installation and have often thought about taking the drives back to zeros for added security. The computer that I used is a Dell Optiplex GX 150, running Windows XP Pro. I made sure that the setting was set for the machine to boot from the CD rom drive first in the boot sequence. However, my PC would not boot from the Disk Deleter Flash Drive. No matter how the boot sequence was set, it would always skip the flash drive and boot from the next bootable device. The computer recognized the flash drive though. It showed up in the
A my computer@ screen if I installed it before or after the boot process. That being said, I installed the program with Windows up and running. Everything was straight-forward and easy to comprehend. However, when I got to the panel that reads
A Disk Deleter has detected the following disks. Select a disk by moving the cursor in the list box and press space key to select or delete a disk you want to delete.@ I must be chronologically gifted (old), because I read the words A press space key@ to mean a key on the keyboard. After a little pondering, I realized you were talking about what I call the A space bar.@ I might have mis-read or gotten confused because just prior to the words space key you ended a sentence with the word A box@ and started the next sentence with the word A And.@ I read right through the period. After getting through all that, the directions got more understandable and I proceeded to select my drive that I wanted to delete. I elected to overwrite the drive back to zeros. All went well. This part of the process was what I expected, and easy to understand.
I think the Disk Deleter is a good and usable program, especially for people who are constantly reformatting harddrives for reuse.
Again, I was glad to review this product and I will use it in the future.
NOTE: DiskDeleter USB is detected as USB CDROM, so if the PC does not support USB CDROM like Dell Optiplex GX 150, DiskDeleter USB cannot be detected when booting. If you connect USB CDROM device on GX150, the situation is the same
